Hello and welcome to Health in Heels with Dr. Lisa!
We are all looking for a fuller, and natural looking lash. If you find mascara and falsies to look too heavy and fake, and good lash extension may be exactly what you are looking for.
As opposed to falsies (which glue a prepared lash on top of your current lashes), lash extensions volumize your lashes by applying single lashes in between your lashes for a fuller, more natural look. Here are some things when considering lash extensions.
1: Research your technician. Make sure they are licensed and they have examples of work to show you. Remember this person is applying glue very close to your eyeball, so you want to be very sure they have the proper training. You’ll want them to do a “patch test” to make sure you don’t have an allergic reaction to the lash glue.
2: Lashes Extensions come in all different thicknesses, lengths, and degree of curl. Make sure your lash technician does a thorough consultation before getting started to make sure you are getting the lashes you want. You don’t want to go in wanting a little extra volume and leave with dramatic super dense lashes, or vice versa. Once you’re ready to begin, expect to be in the chair for about two hours.
3: Lash Extension aftercare is SUPER important. Groom your lashes daily with a clean spoolie. Your lashes exist to catch dirt and debris, so it’s important to wash them daily. Gently rub diluted baby shampoo over your lashes once a day.
4: Ditch the waterproof mascara (or any oil based product for that matter). Waterproof eye make-up contains oils that destroy the lash glue and will result in your lashes falling out prematurely. Check the ingredients of your makeup and removers before applying them near your lash extensions.
5: Your lash extensions should lash as long as your natural lash cycle (about six to eight weeks). Make sure your lashes make it by treating them gently. Don’t rub your eyes with a towel or sleep face down on a pillow.
Follow these tips and you’re sure to have the perfect lashes you will love.
